Fix the Debt Using Social Media to Welcome Congress Back from Recess

Washington, DC (PRWEB) September 06, 2013 -- On Monday, Members of Congress will return to Washington from their August Recess with a long list of fiscal issues with which to contend. According to an article on September 4th in Politico, Congress and the White House only have nine legislative days in September to make headway on the sequester, the expiration of funding for the government, and the approaching debt ceiling, in addition to legislation pertaining to U.S. action in Syria and a number of other high-stakes issues.

The Campaign to Fix the Debt, a nonpartisan movement asking lawmakers to work together on legislation large enough to stabilize and reduce the national debt as a share of the economy, is utilizing a crowd-speaking platform called Thunderclap to urge Congress to work together to overcome the country’s fiscal challenges. If enough supporters utilize the Fix the Debt Thunderclap, a timed Facebook Post or Tweet will be blasted out from all participants at 10 a.m. ET on Monday, September 9, creating a wave of attention.

“The Campaign to Fix the Debt is using every channel at its disposal – including social media – to put as much pressure as possible on Congress to get a debt deal done. Our message is going to be loud and clear: We need Congress and the president to put a debt deal in place,” said Jon Romano, spokesman for the Campaign to Fix the Debt.
