Flaredown app puts patients in charge of managing chronic illness
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 06, 2014 -- Flaredown is a free web and mobile app that helps patients with chronic illnesses track and visualize their symptoms, triggers, and treatments so that they can understand how their choices affect their health.
Chronic illnesses often follow a pattern of ‘flareups’ and quiet periods. Flareups are often brought on by triggers, which can be as anything from a change in the weather to eating a particular food. Frustratingly, it is extremely difficult for patients and their doctors to identify what patients’ triggers are. After all, any given day exposes patients to dozens of potential triggers. Worse still, there is often a lag between trigger and flareup, and some triggers can be subtle.
Enter Flaredown. Designed to make the user experience as comfortable as possible, Flaredown gives patients easy access to the data that they need to manage their health effectively. One easy check-in a day, and patients have access to the same kind of data that medical researchers use in evaluating treatments.
Response from chronic illness communities online has been overwhelmingly positive. The Indiegogo campaign surpassed its funding goal in five days and has gone on to raise $30,000 to date. In the words of prominent UK health blogger Natasha Lipman (http://www.nutritiouslynatasha.com), “I’ve been using diet to heal from three chronic illnesses, but tracking down triggers on my own has taken years. Flaredown is what I wish I’d had all along.”
A spot in the private beta is available to funders at http://www.indiegogo.com/at/flaredown through November 13, 2014.
