Flood Services Canada, the GTA’s Leading 24-Hour Response Team, Manages Large Glycol Spill in Toronto Condominium
Toronto, Canada (PRWEB) February 20, 2015 -- Flood Services Canada (http://www.FloodServices.ca), the Greater Toronto Area’s leading 24-hour emergency flood, fire, and smoke damage restoration response service team, is announcing its recent handling of a large glycol spill at a condo in downtown Toronto.
In late January, a Toronto condominium was faced with a large spill of ethylene glycol, a liquid used in many products, including antifreeze, cosmetics, paint, and brake fluid. The source of the spill was a malfunctioning hose, which attached the building’s heat pump to its supply loop. When the hose no longer functioned properly, huge amounts of glycol were leaked into the source unit and several other units in the building. “Glycol is only considered mildly toxic—it’s only truly dangerous when ingested—but the amount of leakage we at Flood Services Canada had to handle created a dangerous environment for everyone,” says Chad Vanvari, owner of Flood Services Canada. “By the time we started with the restoration, the glycol had leaked into several units.”
Vanvari explains that the volume of leakage forced the Flood Services Canada team to tear out those areas affected by the glycol. Along with handling the leakage, the company also had to deal with significant water extraction throughout the units that were impacted.
“Walking into a situation like this, we knew that time was crucial. We needed to assess the problem quickly and then decide on a course of action to stop the leaking and restore the units,” Vanvari concludes. “I would say our team did a good job on all fronts and I’m proud of how they stuck together and effectively handled the situation.”
