Florida Home Partnership Production Listed Among Top For-Profit Home Builders
Ruskin, FL (PRWEB) September 24, 2014 -- After the yearlong validation process by the Tampa Bay Business Journal Book of Lists staff, Florida Home Partnership, Inc. (FHP) ranked 17th among the top 25 homebuilders in the Tampa Bay metro-area. Ranking is based upon the number of home closings in 2013. FHP built and closed 54 homes during this period. This marks the second time FHP has been listed in these rankings. Until recently, FHP, a state certified non-profit homebuilder, has built homes exclusively for first time home buyers utilizing the USDA Mutual Self Help Housing Program.
Through the self-help program, FHP builds Green, energy efficient 3 and 4 bedrooms homes in large master planned communities. These communities, created and developed by FHP, are established with Homeowners Associations and amenity laden with playgrounds, parks, swimming pools, community centers in addition to landscaped open spaces. “Eligible families commit a minimum of 600 hours to build their homes and those of their future neighbors,” stated Executive Director of FHP Earl Pfeiffer. He further remarks, “These communities are indistinguishable from market-rate developments.”
In addition to building self-help housing for over 20 years, FHP expanded its capacity in a partnership with Hillsborough County’s Affordable Housing Services in 2012 to include building affordable townhomes in Plant City, Florida. The acquisition of Alexander Woods Townhomes through the former Neighborhood Stabilization Program has enabled the nonprofit builder to increase its production while expanding its mission to offer affordable homeownership.
With price points between $87,000 to $150,000, FHP has built over 750 homes and six communities, The nonprofit builder collaborates with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the affordable housing offices of Hillsborough and Pasco Counties and the Housing Assistance Council (HAC) in Washington D.C.
