Florida Hospital Tampa Welcomes New Fellowship-Trained Radiologist to Breast Care Center
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) October 27, 2015 -- Florida Hospital Tampa is pleased to announce the addition of Kira Wendorf, MD as the new radiologist for the Breast Care Center at Florida Hospital Tampa. Dr. Wendorf is a fellowship-trained and board-certified breast imaging radiologist with more than 7 years of experience. She specializes in all aspects of breast imaging including screening and diagnostic mammography, diagnostic breast ultrasound and breast MRI examinations.
Dr. Wendorf received her medical degree from the University of Colorado. She completed her residency at Bridgeport Yale New Haven Health and breast fellowship at the University of California in Los Angeles.
She provides same-day results for all diagnostic breast imaging examinations and is fully capable in all breast interventional procedures including glactography; ultrasound aspirations; stereotactic; MRI-guided core biopsy; and preoperative needle localizations. Dr. Wendorf also offers patients counseling and genetic testing for hereditary breast an ovarian cancer syndrome.
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among women, exceeded only by lung cancer according to the American Cancer Society. While one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime – the survival rates are encouraging and continuing to increase.
