Florida Insurance Company Awards Scholarships and Computers to Children of Employees
Deerfield Beach, Florida (PRWEB) August 27, 2015 -- As another new school year gets underway, a number of families are better positioned to help their children make the most of their learning opportunities thanks to new computers, printers and college scholarships.
People’s Trust and its affiliate, the Rapid Response Team recently sponsored an essay contest that resulted in 44 families with children between the ages of 9-22 receiving laptop computers and printers, and another 15 families with college-bound students receiving $1,000 scholarships.
To qualify for a laptop/printer, children had to submit an essay detailing why they needed the equipment. For the college scholarships, students wrote a biographical essay that outlined their goals, aspirations and future plans.
“Having read a number of well-written essays, I’m more encouraged than ever about the future of our country based on the goals, aspirations and abilities of these students,” said George Schaeffer, People’s Trust Chairman and CEO who personally read each submission. “Our employees are doing a marvelous job shaping this next generation and should be very proud of their children.”
Schaeffer understands the challenges families face with the rising costs of college and the rapid acceleration of technology.
“A college education is a tremendous investment, but it’s getting continuously more difficult to afford. We’re thrilled that this program can help offset some of those costs for a number of our employees,” Schaeffer added. “At the same time, it’s also difficult to keep up with the latest technology, so we’re pleased these laptops will be able to help out so many families by giving their students the freedom to study in whatever setting works best for them,” said Schaeffer.
