Florida National University's Powerhouse Holds its 2nd Annual The Many Faces of Domestic and Teen Dating Violence Rally This Month
Hialeah, FL (PRWEB) October 11, 2017 -- FNU Powerhouse in conjunction with Dr. Jose Regueiro Foundation will hold its second annual "The Many Faces of Domestic and Teen Dating Violence" rally Thursday, October 12 at 10 AM at Florida National University’s campus, 4425 W. 20th Avenue, Hialeah, Florida.
The purpose of this rally is to educate children, teens, and adults in the South Florida community about the indicators that often lead to crimes of domestic and teen dating violence.
“Domestic violence is a power that perpetrators systematically use to try and control someone in a relationship.” Rachel Tourgeman, Florida National University’s Community Relations Director said. “We want to empower people with information that will help save lives. The people and organizations involved in this initiative are movers and shakers in the Miami Dade County and beyond!”
Among the movers and shakers are Director, Miami-Dade Police Department, Juan Perez, the Coral Gables Police Department, Homeland Security, and a string of banks, restaurants and other businesses in the South Florida area. There are a total of 85 organizations that make up FNU Powerhouse with 700 to 1,000 attendees at every event.
Thursday’s event is about bringing awareness to such crimes and recognizing that it’s not a gender-related offense. Domestic violence does not discriminate. It crosses social and economic boundaries. It doesn’t see race or gender as a preference. Anyone can be a victim and it’s important that people—especially our youth are aware of this and will be able to identify the early signs of such abuse before it’s too late.
"The Many Faces of Domestic and Teen Dating Violence" is just one of the events that FNU Powerhouse hosts on an annual basis. Other rallies focus on human trafficking and missing children.
The FNU Powerhouse’s mission is to be a force and a face in the multi-cultural communities against the practices of human trafficking, domestic and teen dating violence, and missing children. Our aim is to end these societal horrors that threaten the welfare of all lives.
