Florida National University to Host Human Trafficking Awareness Symposium on October 8, 2015
Miami, Florida (PRWEB) September 10, 2015 -- Florida National University (FNU) and the Dr. Jose Regueiro Foundation, INC., are hosting the Human Trafficking Awareness Symposium: Prevention, Apprehension and Rehabilitation on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. The symposium will be held at FNU’s Hialeah Campus, 4425 W. Jose Regueiro (20th) Avenue in Hialeah, FL., 33012.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, “Human trafficking is a modern-day form of slavery involving the illegal trade of people for exploitation or commercial gain.” Anyone can be a victim of this modern form of slavery: men, women, and children (some as young as 11 years of age) are the victims of human trafficking, and it is becoming an increasing prevalent problem on the local, national, and global level!
Florida National University and the Dr. Jose Regueiro Foundation, INC. has assembled a Powerhouse committee consisting of local and national law enforcement agencies along with private and non-profit organizations to bring awareness to the community about human trafficking. A panel of experts in Human Trafficking will discuss how to prevent human trafficking, how to apprehend human trafficking, and how to rehabilitate the victims of human trafficking. Dr. Maria Cristina Regueiro, President and CEO of Florida National University states: “Human Trafficking is a morally compelling issue that affects every aspect of our global domain!”
