Florida Poly Launches STEMStudy.com Website & App for High School Students
LAKELAND, Fla. (PRWEB) December 17, 2015 -- Florida Polytechnic University has launched STEMStudy.com, a new website designed to help high school students interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) degrees as they begin researching and applying for college.
STEMStudy.com is a centralized source of information about the college application process. It includes articles, application checklists, videos and interactive content that can be informative and valuable to STEM-focused students through all four years of high school.
To see the site, go to http://www.stemstudy.com. In addition to the website, Florida Poly has also launched the STEM Study app, which is available through Apple’s iTunes app store. The app provides a recommended checklist of college preparation tasks organized by high school year. Students can customize the list by adding their own to-do items, check things off as they make progress and access tips and information from STEMStudy.com that may be helpful as they prepare to apply for and attend a top engineering school.
While the site is powered by Florida Polytechnic University, STEMStudy.com can be used by students who are interested in attending any university, particularly ones that are STEM-focused.
“It’s widely known that employment in STEM fields is growing, and more and more students are considering STEM degree programs,” said Scott Rhodes, Vice Provost of Enrollment Services. “The application pool for STEM programs is competitive, and we want to provide a wealth of information to help students get an early start in researching colleges and preparing to apply.”
Some of the college application resources available through STEMStudy.com include:
• A STEM scholarship guide to help students and parents learn more about scholarships geared toward STEM disciplines.
• An interactive STEM interest quiz that matches students with suggested programs.
• And a STEM Careers Glossary which is a database of STEM-focused career profiles describing what each one does.
“At Florida Poly we aim to recruit a diverse group of students who are the best and brightest,” said Lauren Willison, Director of Admissions. “STEMStudy.com and the STEM Study app are great tools for students who are interested in pursuing advanced technology and engineering degree programs like ours. These resources will help them get an early start in preparing to apply for college and will help them make more informed decisions as they progress.”
