Orlando, FL (PRWEB) April 03, 2014 -- Florida Virtual School (FLVS®), the statewide public school district in Florida, is committed to providing innovative, interactive learning experiences for students. As a public school district, funding creative, innovative projects can sometimes be a challenge, so FLVS is bringing its funding campaign for a fun, new educational app focusing on kids' wellness and nutrition to Kickstarter.com.
The FLVS Curriculum team has been designing Cave Bro, an entertaining mobile game created to help kids become more active while learning about nutrition and exercise, as an in course game for the Personal Fitness and Health Opportunities through Physical Education (HOPE) online courses. The team quickly realized that this game should not be limited just to FLVS students. Kids everywhere are in need of better fitness and nutrition habits. Working with a public school budget, however, meant FLVS could afford to thaw him out, but to really bring Cave Bro to life and give kids control of his actions (and their fitness) help with funding would be needed.
“Florida Virtual School has brought Cave Bro to Kickstarter, so we can bring him to people of all ages, all over the world,” stated John Logan, vice president of curriculum product innovation for Florida Virtual School. “We are in the process of working with Fablevision to build the next generation, fully-playable prototype and with contributions from the public we will be able afford to fund the completion of Cave Bro phase one.”
The Cave Bro game concept: We’ve thawed out a frozen caveman, and boy is he hungry. Cave Bro is no longer in the Stone Age, so he’ll need someone to teach him how to eat right and stay fit in modern times. Players will make quick decisions on what to feed him in order to find the perfect nutritional balance. Good choices earn rewards, bad choices lead to one cranky Cave Bro. Either way players will have fun while improving their own nutritional knowledge.
Plans for Phase 2 of Cave Bro include a food and exercise tracker for kids. So if a player exercises, Cave Bro will too.
