Florida Vision Technology Is on the Cutting Edge of Technology for the Blind and Visually Impaired
(PRWEB) October 18, 2017 -- Lesa Kretschmer, Florida Vision Technology’s Founder and CEO, recently attended the 2017 FAER Conference in Orlando. (FAER stands for the Florida Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired). Kretschmer has worked in the blindness and low vision industry for more than 24 years and operates her business out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In an interview, Kretschmer states, “I attend numerous national and Florida state events to stay informed about new technology and learn about what‘s coming in the near future.”
Not only are products showcased, but also services, opportunities, and resources. At the recent FAER conference, Kretschmer showcased IrisVision, a wearable low vision device, Prodigi Connect 12, an all-in-one solution for students with low vision and the BrailleNote Touch, a Google certified Braille tablet. Kretschmer says, “It’s important for Florida Vision Technology to attend these events in order to showcase the newest, cutting-edge, assistive technology devices so agencies, schools, can experience what it can do for their populations, first-hand.”
Additionally, Kretschmer comments, “These events allow those who work with the blind or visually impaired to share our experiences and knowledge with each other, in order to better serve our communities.” Kretschmer points out, “We have a common goal to increase productivity, independence and enrich the lives of people living with visual impairments.”
Kretschmer utilizes this expertise and know-how to provide her clients with the right assistive technology to live more independent, fulfilling lives. Kretschmer and her team conduct training sessions with clients when purchasing new technology to ensure they not only know how to use it, but that they are comfortable using it. Kretschmer adds, “As part of our services, we offer one-on-one training so it’s personalized to meet the client’s specific needs. Or, we can customize a group training just as easily.”
As the United States population ages, more and more people will be able to benefit from the advances in assistive technology. According to Kretschmer, “Continuous education, networking, benchmarking the best practices, and keeping up on new technology are essential when serving a growing customer base with diverse needs.” These events feature speakers who share their successes as well as offer insights into the challenges they faced and how they overcame them. Kretschmer responds, “By understanding the challenges and issues, I can work on ways to assist agencies, schools, employers, and end users more effectively, and provide the specific services they really need.”
Florida Vision Technology can be counted on to serve the blind and visually impaired community by offering the latest, cutting-edge assistive technology devices, conducting personalized one-on-one client consultation, and ensuring end users are provided with the expert training they need to successfully use their new device and enjoy greater independence.
