Folds of Honor Founder Launches Volition America Half Marathon and 5K Series
Tulsa, Okla. (PRWEB) January 21, 2015 -- Folds of Honor, the only non-profit organization providing educational scholarships and assistance to the spouses and children of those killed or disabled in service to America, today announced the launch of Volition America, a half marathon and 5K movement of like-minded individuals committed to exercising their remarkable power of choice to leave no family behind on the field of battle.
In 2015, Volition America will feature six events nationwide, including half marathons and 5Ks in:
• Boise, Idaho – March 21
• Portland, Oregon – April 26
• Colorado Springs, Colorado – May 23
• Tulsa, Oklahoma – May 25
• Chicago, Illinois – June 6
• Ogden, Utah – September 5
“Folds of Honor has awarded more than 7,500 scholarships to date, but in 2014 there were more scholarship requests then available funds,” said founder Major Dan Rooney (ret.). “We needed a bigger platform and, borrowing from my passion for running and physical and mental fitness, Volition America was born.”
Added Major Rooney, “While Folds of Honor receives a financial contribution from proceeds of each race, Volition America’s real opportunity is uniting, motivating and deploying Patriots all across America to join our mission. Our goal is simple: 1,000,000 Americans pledging $13 per month to fund the mission of Folds. I know together we will get there one patriot, and one step at a time.”
