Following High Profile Script Leak, Script It Launches Individual Accounts
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 28, 2014 -- Following the high profile leak of Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Hateful Eight’ script last week, Cast It Systems today announced new user options for their Script It cloud-based document management and distribution system. Script It has made its services available to individual users who can now enjoy the same security and features offered to studio customers.
Script It, originally developed in coordination with Warner Bros, is an online script/document distribution platform for studios, production companies, and now individuals. Using a web browser or the standalone iPad reader app, users can upload, share and store their scripts and production documents to Script It’s secured cloud network. The cornerstone to the Script It platform is its extensive suite of content controls and security features, and the complete elimination of emailed pdf attachments. When a Script It user decides to "share" a script, they first set parameters on how the recipient can access, view, print, and, if authorized, share the material to a third party. Instead of receiving an attached PDF, the recipient gets an email invitation to view the material inside Script It's web browser interface or through the native IOS or Android reader app.
Beyond eliminating attached PDFs, Script It's advanced content control features allow studios and productions dictate not only how the material can be read, but also whether it can be downloaded or printed. Shared documents can also have set expiration dates, upon which the material becomes inaccessible, Self Destruct timers, where the recipient has a limited amount of time to read the material, and a Device Lock that allows the recipient to open to document on only one device.
Atlas Entertainment, a Los Angeles-based production company and early adopter, has used Script It extensively in their production process. Atlas works on a variety of high profile projects and Script It helps them maintain the top level of security they require.
And now, everyone involved in the creative process can also use Script It to protect their content and to better control how that material is shared and accessed. With two new account types, Lite and Standard, users can upload their material to the Script It cloud service to manage and share to others with the same sets of controls enjoyed by studios and production companies.
The Script It Lite account is a free version that allows users to upload up to 5 documents, while the Standard account option ($29 per month) allows for an unlimited amount of documents and scripts. Enterprise accounts are also available, contact Script It for more information.
Eric Hayes, Co-founder of Cast It Systems, believes that this will dramatically affect the way screenplays are read in Hollywood. "Script It finally gives content producers the ability to control where their script goes and who sees it in a way not possible before."
