Foot Levelers Becomes Sponsor of Virginia Amateur Sports Commonwealth Games
Roanoke, VA (PRWEB) November 05, 2013 -- Foot Levelers has announced it has signed an agreement to become a corporate sponsor of the Virginia Amateur Sports Commonwealth Games beginning in 2014. Foot Levelers will sponsor the Commonwealth Games rugby tournament in Northern Virginia and the youth fast-pitch softball tournament, which will be held in Virginia’s Roanoke Valley. In addition, Foot Levelers will also be a top sponsor of the annual VAS golf tournament, a Community Health and Wellness Day, as well as the Special Olympics Little Feet Meet.
“Partnering with Virginia Amateur Sports on the Commonwealth Games and various other events provides Foot Levelers a great opportunity to help more and more people value an active lifestyle, be it recreational or competitive,” notes Foot Levelers Vice President of Marketing and Sales Anthony Conversa. “As we strive to help people become more active and live pain-free lifestyles, working alongside Virginia Amateur Sports will be an important and effective vehicle to help achieve our goals.”
“Virginia Amateur Sports is looking forward to developing a new partnership with a Roanoke-based and international company like Foot Levelers, who shares the same mission statement and commitment to living a healthy active lifestyle,” commented Virginia Amateur Sports President Pete Lampman. “Working in unison to improve the lives and wellness of others is a lifelong goal of both our organizations.”
In 2013, there were 800 participants in the Commonwealth Games rugby tournament, in an age range from U7 to High School/Varsity. In all, there were 800 athletes who took part in the 2013 Commonwealth Games, an increase of 250 from the 2012 Games. In advance of rugby’s return to the Olympic Games in 2016, the sport has seen an increase in popularity nationwide over the last few years. Since 2004 the United States has seen a 350% increase in participation and estimates now put total registered players above 81,000, including over 20,000 women and 34,000 youths.
Dates and an exact location for the 2014 Commonwealth Games Rugby tournament have not yet been announced. The 2013 tournament was held at the Northern Fauquier Community Park in Marshall, Virginia.
Youth fast-pitch softball is one of the most popular sports in the United States. It is estimated there are 80,000 teams and 1.3 million participants nationwide. It is also the most popular sport in the Commonwealth Games with 1,404 athletes participating in the tournament during the 2013 Games. The Commonwealth Games youth fast-pitch softball tournament is held throughout Virginia’s Roanoke Valley, including at the Moyer Sports Complex, which among other events hosts the NCAA Division II and III national championships.
In addition to the Commonwealth Games sponsorship, Foot Levelers is teaming up with Virginia Amateur Sports to hold a Community Health and Wellness day in the Roanoke Valley. This event is designed to help educate area youth on the importance of living more active and healthy lives. A location and date for this event have yet to be determined, but Conversa is looking forward to reaching out to the local community, “We have a duty to be a positive influence in the community and helping area youth understand the importance of total body wellness is paramount in that outreach.”
Another highlight of the sponsorship Foot Levelers is excited to partner with the VAS is the Special Olympics Little Feet Meet, which is held annually at Northside High School in Roanoke, Virginia in late April. Conversa and the Foot Levelers team is enthusiastically awaiting this event, “We’re eagerly anticipating the Little Feet Meet more than anything we’ve been a part of in the past. Having these exceptional kids be a part of our lives, even for a short time, is an experience I know everyone at Foot Levelers is really looking forward to.”
