Foothill Unity Center Teams Up With Sydney Paige® Inc. To Donate Backpacks Filled With School Supplies To Kids In Need
Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) August 04, 2015 -- In mid-August, Santa Anita Race Track will be transformed into a Back to School bonanza with over 1,200 pre-registered, local kids from low-income families throughout the San Gabriel Valley, gathering for a day filled with fun activities and an opportunity for children to receive much needed backpacks, school supplies, health screening services and just about everything they need to start the school year prepared, confident and ready to learn.
Community partner, Sydney Paige® Inc., is a Buy One | Give One company, where for each backpack purchased, they will donate a matching backpack, filled with school supplies, at the event. “We are so excited about the additional kids in need this will allow us to reach,” says Courtney Brockmeyer, Founder & CEO of the backpack company, “as well as being able to work with passionate groups and individuals who share our goal of helping underserved children learn and thrive in school.”
This is the 17th Annual Back to School event, hosted by Foothill Unity Center, which supports families in need throughout the foothills of the San Gabriel Valley. The Center, along with community partners, is joining efforts to give these families and their children necessary items for the upcoming school year. “We are excited to be partnering with Sydney Paige® Inc.. They have agreed to donate their adorable, brightly colored, high quality backpacks, each time someone buys one” comments Foothill Unity Center Executive Director, Betty McWilliams. “We are hoping people who need to buy a backpack for their child will support Sydney Paige® and in turn, support Foothill Unity Center.”
Both Foothill Unity Center and Sydney Paige® are passionate about these children starting the school year off prepared and confident. Brockmeyer states, “The top reasons for kids dropping out of school are simply lack of confidence and the lack of tools to do their work.
