“In order to cope with the sheer volume of information to be remembered in medical school, I began using memory strategies such as mnemonic devices to improve my studies,” Lekwuwa said. “Many of these methods were cumbersome and required a lot of mental energy though, so I opted to create my own, more user-friendly strategy – the ABZZ."
Lekwuwa’s ABZZ method aided him in graduating with distinction from medical school, and he now uses the code to recall professional knowledge and personal codes, passwords and phone numbers.
“When numbers are converted to words, the imagination comes to life,” Lekwuwa said. “Imagination helps to transform simple, dull, bland and non-stimulating numbers into vibrant, colorful and attractive images which are easily retrieved from the memory.”
