Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) April 28, 2014 -- On Saturday, May 3 2014, One Mind Philly will host its Second Annual Benefit Dinner and Auction at the Union League of Philadelphia to benefit ONE MIND FOR RESEARCH. This event is One Mind’s primary fundraiser in the Philadelphia region and will feature a sponsor cocktail reception, three-course dinner, wines from Staglin Family Vineyard, a silent auction, and live entertainment. Guests will hear from Duke University Medical Center’s Kafui Dzirasa M.D., Ph.D., a leading researcher in the genetic causes of psychiatric disorders.
The brain is the most complex and least understood organ in the human body. Brain disorders affect more than 60 million Americans – one in four suffers from a brain disease or mental illness, including Alzheimer’s, Autism, Depression, Bipolar Disease, ALS, Traumatic Brain Injury and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. These and other brain ailments cost the United States close to $1 trillion each year and is the biggest challenge to health care today. One Mind for Research, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was founded by venture capitalist Garen Staglin and former congressman Patrick Kennedy. One Mind is independent, non-partisan, and dedicated to curing diseases of the brain and eliminating the stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness and brain injury.
