Former Construction Worker, Bradley Bowen, Earns Featured Role in The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay - Part 2
New Smyrna Beach, FL (PRWEB) June 10, 2015 -- Two years ago, construction worker Bradley Bowen never imagined he would see himself on the silver screen. Fast forward to 2015, where Bowen will be featured in an impressive list of major motion pictures, including The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay - Part 2.
Bowen, who currently resides in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, began his acting career just two years ago, at age 44, when his daughter won the South Florida pageant, and her agent invited him on set of the movie Grace. Never having been in front of the camera, and a full-time construction worker at the time, Bowen was cast as an extra. After impressing the casting coordinator, he was immediately upgraded to the role of featured actor.
In the construction business since high school, Bowen longed for a more fulfilling career. His role in Grace was the spark that ignited his desire to pursue his dreams.
“I felt that I had always played different roles in my life, including husband and father, which I loved. Unfortunately, I also found myself often playing the role of happy employee, pretending to like I enjoyed a job I actually despised,” Bowen explained. “The silver lining is that this made the transition into acting feel very natural.”
A self-described "hands-on learner," Bowen spends a lot of his time off-set performing in student films and taking seminars to improve his craft. Despite having no formal acting education, his willingness to work hard, and be anywhere at anytime, continues to earn him more roles as a featured actor in high-profile films including Ant-Man and the final installment of the Hunger Games series. His work ethic further demonstrated by the fact that he does not rely on an agent, and has booked all of his roles himself.
Bowen believes that, anyone can do anything, if they are willing to work for it.
“It’s not fame or fortune that motivates me,” said Bowen. “I want to inspire others to achieve their dreams, regardless of their age or circumstances. If I can do it in my 40’s with a family to support, anyone can.”
According to Bowen, the best advice he’s ever received was, “to just keep going, always be ready, willing and available.”
His goal in the next five years is to earn a supporting role in a major motion picture or serial television show. With an impressive list of films already under his belt, including Tomorrowland, Furious 7, Divergent, Insurgent, and Allegiant, it is only a matter of time.
