Former Miss Florida, Monica Farrell Craichy, and Sons "KAJ Brothers" to Perform at the Miss Florida 80th Anniversary Pageant - Forever Talent Show Friday Night
St. Petersburg, FL (PRWEB) June 17, 2015 -- Monica Farrell Craichy won the 1985 Miss Florida title after becoming Miss Jacksonville. Monica went on to the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey, a few months later and won a talent award and scholarship for her classical piano performance of Rachmaninoff. Monica won the Miss Florida USA title in 1988 and competed in Miss USA where she won the overall swimsuit award and placed 3rd Runner Up. Monica was the first woman ever to win both the Miss Florida and Miss Florida USA titles.
The 80th Anniversary Celebration of the Miss Florida Pageant kicked off at the Mahaffey Theater Tuesday night for preliminary rounds. The Forever Miss Florida Talent Show is this Friday night and the Miss Florida Finals are Saturday night. Friday night's Talent Show begins at 8pm at the Mahaffey Theatre in downtown St. Petersburg (400 First Street South).
Monica returns to the Miss Florida stage this Friday night for the special Forever Miss Florida Talent Show with other former Miss Florida winners, but what will make this night most special is that her sons will also be performing. Kyle Craichy, his brother Austin, and Johnny Atys are part of the dynamic POP R&B trio KAJ Brothers. They are excited about performing at the Miss Florida pageant and with their mom.
"It's awesome to be performing with the one who got us into music in the first place," Kyle Craichy said. "Teaching us to play piano, giving us a love for singing and music and now we are on the same stage. She will be on blowing everyone away with her talent; the very talent that pushed us to be where we are today."
"How awesome is that," Austin Craichy exclaimed, "to be performing on the same stage as my mom, Miss Florida 1985. She is the reason I can sing and play, and the root of why music is such a big part of my life. It will be a night to remember."
Johnny Atys said, "Monica is like a mother to me and I am truly honored and blessed to be performing on the same stage as such a beautiful person and magnificent talent. It is truly a family affair."
Monica is excited to be on the same stage with two of her five children. "When I was crowned Miss Florida in 1985, I could have never imagined performing again 30 years later with my sons (KAJ Brothers) sharing the same stage as special guest performers," Monica said. "Wow! What a blessing."

"Am very proud of my precious Monica for performing such a riveting classical piano piece by Chopin on stage again after 30 years," KC Craichy said about his wife. "She is the woman of my dreams and an extraordinary talent and people are really going to be blessed and impacted." KC added that Monica passed her musical gifts to their children and it is unreal that she is performing on the same stage as their sons (KAJ Brothers) who are special guest performers at this special event. "It seems fitting it be at the Miss Florida Pageant," KC said, "since Monica and I met when she was Miss Florida."
