Former Pakistani Military TV Series Actor Pens New Riveting Fiction

This later led him to play major roles in two blockbuster military-oriented television series in Pakistan in the ‘90s. Drawing from such personal experiences as well as vicarious experiences through people he has known, and sufficiently backing it with discussions, analysis and research which not only encouraged but enabled him too, first-time author Inam weaves a riveting fiction about the global war on terror and the realities of people entangled in it, titled “The Misunderstood Ally.”
Inam’s newly published book is a geopolitical thriller based on a realistic backdrop and inspired from real life events. “The Misunderstood Ally” may be a novel but the environment it reflects is real. The story follows the lives of three protagonists. The first one is a Pakistan Army Commando, a commanding officer of his Unit, fighting the extremist forces emanating out of Afghanistan. The second is a Special Agent from a U.S. Intelligence Agency reflecting the mindset prevalent in the U.S. Government on the “war on terror.” Third character is a belligerent but ruthless Afghan Militant chief fighting what he perceives as occupation forces in his country and their allies. They come from different worlds, have different beliefs and ideologies, but are put in one war. Their stories run in parallel till fate brings them at a crossroad.
A tale of valor, sacrifice and self-discovery, “The Misunderstood Ally” is a novel that depicts a modern-day story about the current conflict in Afghanistan. It also reflects on the lives of average moderate peace loving common Pakistanis who are stuck between the forces of extremism on one hand and totalitarianism on the other. CIA led Drone operations being currently conducted in Af Pak border area and the repercussions they have in Pakistan, are also an integral part of this story. Not only will readers get hooked to the action, drama, thrill and suspense with a touch of humor and romance; but more importantly, they will also absorb a message of peace and a feeling of empathy for all those gravely affected from the conflict in the region.

About the Author
Faraz Inam is a corporate banker by profession. In his childhood, he wanted to be a combat pilot like his father and rule the skies in fighter jets. However, fate had other things in store for him. His eyesight deteriorated while in his teens and he could not enroll as a flight cadet in the Pakistan Air Force (PAF). However, for the love of aircrafts, he joined the Air Force as an engineering cadet. During his training, he realized that this is not his cup of tea. Hence, after a brief but memorable stay in the PAF, he opted out preferring to continue his career in civilian life. He obtained two master’s degrees, the second one being an MBA from the prestigious Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). In the 1990’s, Inam got the chance to act in two super hit television serials of Pakistan. Interestingly his was a key role, similar to what he did in real life in PAF and that made his performance very natural and affable, thus making him a household name in his country. ‘In fact my military background got me this role in the Army oriented television series “Sunehrey Din” and its sequel “Alpha Bravo Charlie” which is well remembered by the viewers even to this day,’ says Inam. After his brush with stardom in the 90’s, Inam moved on in his career and now leads a tranquil life with his wife and three children, while working in the financial sector based in United Arab Emirates.
