Former US Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff to Deliver Cyber Investing Summit Keynote Address
New York, NY (PRWEB) April 25, 2017 -- The Honorable Michael Chertoff, former Department of Homeland Security Secretary and Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of the Chertoff Group, will deliver the keynote speech at the 2017 Cyber Investing Summit Tuesday, May 23rd at the New York Stock Exchange.
The Cyber Investing Summit is an all-day conference focused on the investment opportunities and strategies in the cyber security industry. Panels will be offered throughout the day highlighting publicly traded firms and privately owned entities. As Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security from 2005 to 2009 under President George W. Bush, Mr. Chertoff spearheaded a national cyber security strategy, developed and implemented border security and immigration policy, and promoted homeland security regulations. He also transformed FEMA into an effective organization following Hurricane Katrina.
At the Chertoff Group, Mr. Chertoff provides high-level strategic counsel to corporate and government leaders on a broad range of security issues, from risk identification and prevention to preparedness, response and recovery.

Before heading up the Department of Homeland Security, Mr. Chertoff served as a federal judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Prior to that, Mr. Chertoff served as a federal prosecutor investigating and prosecuting cases of political corruption, organized crime, corporate fraud and terrorism.
Mr. Chertoff is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School. From 1979 to 1980 he served as a clerk to Supreme Court Justice William Brennan, Jr. In addition to his role at The Chertoff Group, Mr. Chertoff is also senior of counsel at Covington & Burling LLP, and a member of the firm’s White Collar Defense and Investigations practice group.
