Foundation Financial Group Raced for the Cure to Breast Cancer
Raleigh, North Carolina (PRWEB) July 30, 2013 -- Foundation Financial Group announced its support of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, an organization dedicated to curing Breast Cancer. Employees from FFG’s Raleigh Regional Sales Center, located at 701 Exposition Place #202, participated in the 2013 Komen Triangle Race for the Cure, which raised critical funds and awareness for Breast Cancer.
“My FFG coworkers and I ran in the Komen Triangle Race for the Cure to show our support for those who are currently fighting Breast Cancer, those who are celebrating defeating the disease, and those who have unfortunately lost their battle,” said FFG Event Coordinator Stephen Le Gost. “We ran for the people who’ve yet to be diagnosed with Breast Cancer with hopes that Komen accomplishes its mission and ends Breast Cancer first. We ran together, and we ran with the full support of our corporation, Foundation Financial Group, behind us. ”
The Komen Race for Cure is the world’s largest race series aimed at raising funds and awareness for eradicating Breast Cancer. The Komen Triangle Race for the Cure has been part of Raleigh’s support system for Breast Cancer for 17 years. The family event featured a kid zone, survivor breakfast, and various races. Among the races were a competitive 5K, a women’s only 5K, a one-mile fun run, and a kid’s dash for young children. Hungry racers could refuel at the Running Ribbon food truck rodeo, which featured 12 of the Triangle’s best food trucks.
The event concluded with an emotional tribute to Breast Cancer survivors. Breast Cancer survivors joined together for a ceremonial procession. The First Flight Warbird squadron performed a special flyover. Researchers and activists spoke at the event, sharing their dedication to improving Breast Cancer treatments.
Of the funds raised, 75 percent will be used to support local programs that offer a comprehensive range of breast health services across 29 North Carolina counties. These services include preventative screening, cancer treatments, and patient support. The remaining 25 percent will be distributed nationally to fund critical Breast Cancer research.
Since 1997, the North Carolina Triangle to the Coast Affiliate has invested more than $13 million in the region’s healthcare programs and nonprofits to provide Breast Cancer services to the medically underserved and raised $4 million for research. These programs help ensure that women in North Carolina are getting the education, screenings, treatment assistance, post-diagnosis support, and survivor support they need.
As her sister, Susan, was dying from Breast Cancer, Nancy Brinker promised to do everything in her power to end the disease forever. Nancy’s promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world’s largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to treating Breast Cancer at every stage - from the causes, to the cures, to the pain and anxiety of every moment in between. Since 1982, the Komen organization has invested more than $1.9 billion to fulfill Nancy’s promise and usher in a future free from Breast Cancer.
