Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) November 18, 2015 -- Attorneys Joseph Cammarata and Matthew Tievsky have made a third amendment to the defamation complaint against Bill Cosby originally brought by Tamara Green, Therese Serignese, and Linda Traitz.
According to court documents, the amendment has added four new women from California, Arizona, New York, and Michigan to the complaint, each alleging that the comedian sexually assaulted them and that they later suffered defamation by Mr. Cosby and his agents. In addition to the inclusion of the new plaintiffs, Cammarata and Tievsky also added new allegations to the complaint, including intentional infliction of emotional distress and false light.
According to the lawsuit (Case No. 3:14-cv-30211-MGM, U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, Western Division), the first of the new plaintiffs who stepped forward claims that she first met Cosby backstage at the Tonight Show as a young actress in 1969. A second plaintiff described that she met Cosby at the age of 17, also as an aspiring actress. The third plaintiff met Cosby in Los Angeles in 1970 as an aspiring comedy writer. The fourth plaintiff was contacted by Cosby in 1990 after the then 28-year-old sent a resume to a casting agency.
With these new developments, the scope of the claims against Bill Cosby widens. Court records show that a total of seven women in this lawsuit now publicly accuse Cosby of defamation after they publically disclosed his alleged assault and abuse of them. Mr. Cosby earlier attempted to have the case dismissed, but the federal court rejected his attempt to do so. The case is set to proceed with the fact finding stage, including depositions, beginning on November 30, 2015.
