Four Seasons Financial Education Finds Written Retirement Plan Best Way to put Goals in Perspective for Employees
St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- A recent survey by the National Institute on Retirement Security found that 45% of American households have no retirement savings whatsoever. Among working-age households (age 25 to 54), the statistic climbs to 90%. Four Seasons Financial Education, a workplace financial wellness and education firm, confirms seeing these statistics among the employee groups they serve.
“We are poor retirement savers because retirement isn’t staring us in the face,” says Four Seasons President, Travis Freeman. “We postpone and postpone until the idea of retirement is only a few years, or months, away. We have found that a written retirement plan increases preparedness because you are forced to peer into the future,” he says.
Four Seasons uses financial calculators and custom reports to create written retirement plans for employees. Employees cite them as “eye opening” to see how healthy, or unhealthy, their retirement futures may look. This experience is what Four Seasons says creates a sense of urgency to begin saving more for retirement – the reason most Americans fail to plan ahead.
