Four Tips to Engage Millennials in the Workplace
(PRWEB) June 24, 2015 -- Seventy-seven percent of Millennials say the typical 9-5 work schedule does not work well for them. But, 33% fear this desire for flexibility is mistaken for poor work ethic by their Boomer and Xer managers. How can managers give Millennial employees what they want, and feel confident the work is getting done?
Millennial expert, Brad Karsh, author of Manager 3.0: A Millennial’s Guide to Rewriting the Rules of Management, offers these tips for “millennializing” the work place:
- Get out of the conference room, and hold a walking or standing meeting
- Surprise your employees by closing the office early after a big achievement
- Offer routine coaching to employees through lunch and learns or weekly check-ins
- Move the team to a coffee shop for the afternoon while brainstorming a new project
Karsh says, “Millennials are all about the final product. Are you getting great work done? If you are, then it doesn’t matter when or where you do it.”
