Four-Week Countdown: 2016 iaedp™ Symposium Continues Tradition of Presenting the Latest in Eating Disorder Treatment with the Country’s Top Professionals
(PRWEB) January 29, 2016 -- The 30th annual iaedp (International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals) Symposium is just four weeks away, and this year’s event will continue the Symposium’s reputation for presenting the latest in new treatments and research concerning eating disorders. The action-packed conference will take place February 17 – 22, 2016 at the Omni on Amelia Island in Florida and will feature six keynote speakers, workshops, pre-certification courses and special events.
In addition to the many workshops and educational courses, the winners of iaedp’s “Imagine Me Beyond What You See” Body Image Mannequin Art Competition also will be revealed and spotlighted on Saturday at the Symposium. This unique competition, which is an awareness-through-art campaign, received 15 submissions this year with great enthusiasm.
According to one of its participants, Dr. Laura Riss with the Inner Journey Group, said “I appreciate the opportunity IAEDP offers to use a creative outlet, which is very empowering, so they can further articulate the depth of their recovery.”
The 2016 Symposium offers five days of training sessions and instructive presentations. Highlights of the more than 40 offered sessions include: family involvement in eating disorders, the use of psychotherapy, pregnancy and eating disorders, college prevention programs and insights into Binge Eating Disorder.
Due to its extreme popularity, iaedp will once again offer its pre-certification courses onsite at the 2016 Symposium. With these courses, professionals who are new to the field or who do not specialize in eating disorders can receive a first-hand, comprehensive introduction to eating disorder treatment.
