Fox Network’s Dish Nation’s and Rickey Smiley Morning Show Host Ebony Steele Launches “Steele Surviving”
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 17, 2013 -- Fox Network’s Dish Nation’s and Rickey Smiley Morning Show co-host Ebony Steele has launched her national campaign entitled STEELE Surviving – Ebony Steele Tackles Breast Cancer Month. Created to foster a community of sisterhood, the STEELE Surviving campaign will encourage Breast Cancer survivors to utilize their social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to share personal stories of strength and healing to not only uplift, but to educate each other.
A Breast Cancer survivor herself, Ebony is currently participating in various events throughout the month of October where she is discussing the importance of getting routine checks and sharing her own stories of survival. In addition, Ebony will distribute two STEELE Surviving Awards during the Women of Atlanta Charity Fashion Show scheduled for October 24, 2013
Ebony kicked-off her tour on October 4, 2013 at the Dr. Heavenly University even in Atlanta, GA. On October 12th, Ebony hosted a private event for Dr. Jackie Walters of Bravo TV’s Married to Medicine ’50 Shades of Pink’ Luncheon for Breast Cancer. Additional appearances will include:
• October 19, 2013 – Phoebe Sumter Medical Center 10th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk - Americus, GA.
• October 24, 2013 – The Women of Atlanta Charity Fashion Show - Atlanta, GA
• October 25 – 27, 2013 – Magic City Classic – Birmingham, AL, Ebony Steele will host the Classic Soiree and ‘The Classic’ After Party
In August of 2007, Ebony launched her career as a co-host on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show. That September, Ebony noticed a lump on her breast, which she assumed was a cyst. After being pushed to have it checked out by her family, Ebony received the devastating news that the lump was, in fact, breast cancer. Ebony was faced with a challenging decision: should she keep her diagnosis a secret, or should she share it on-air with the world? Bravely, Ebony decided to tell her story on-air to millions of listeners. She has since joined Susan G. Komen Circle of Promise as a National Ambassador, regularly touring the country and sharing her story in an effort to raise awareness about the importance of getting routine screenings. Ebony is now embarking on her own campaign to encourage women all over the country to share their stories.
