FoxGuard Solutions Awarded Department of Energy Grant to Develop $4.3M Cybersecurity Program
Christiansburg, Virginia (PRWEB) October 22, 2013 -- FoxGuard Solutions, Inc. is pleased to announce that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) accepted its project proposal, submitted for the DOE’s Innovation for Increasing Cybersecurity for Energy Delivery Systems program. FoxGuard Solutions will partner with Critical Intelligence to provide patch and update intelligence gathering services and program development assistance. The $4.3M project consists of $3.3M in funding from the DOE and remaining funds from FoxGuard Solutions and Critical Intelligence.
FoxGuard Solutions will develop a program that allows utilities to simplify the process of keeping up-to-date with the most current firmware and software patches and updates available for their energy delivery systems. This offering will build upon FoxGuard Solutions’ experience designing and delivering validated patch management and deployment solutions to leading industrial control system (ICS) vendors and asset owners/operators in the energy sector.
FoxGuard Solutions will address the existing concern regarding patch and update deployment to control system assets in the power utility industry and will significantly enhance the cybersecurity posture of participating energy delivery systems. Key elements of FoxGuard Solutions’ proposal include a Patch and Update Data Aggregator Service and User Portal, a Validation Techniques and Procedural Execution Program, a Patch and Update Scanning and Deployment Solution, and Patch and Update Authentication Measures.
“We are very excited about this opportunity for FoxGuard Solutions to participate in such a vitally important initiative,” says Michael Trautman, Director of FoxGuard Solutions. “We are extremely pleased and honored to have been awarded this contract to help secure our nation’s critical infrastructure in the energy sector.”
Preliminary work on the project has begun and is scheduled to take place over a three year period. The first phase will include focus group research with utilities and other industry experts to further define patch and update needs and to determine the most effective means of deployment to applicable systems.
