Franklin County Visitors Bureau and Capitol Theatre Invite the Public to Celebrate the Spirit of Chambersburg During A cappella & Unplugged
Chambersburg, PA (PRWEB) June 19, 2015 -- Franklin County Visitors Bureau and the Capitol Theatre have joined together to bring Chambersburg to life during A Cappella & Unplugged on Saturday, June 27 at 7 p.m.
There won’t be any electrical instruments or backup as these competitive performers will bring the pure sound of voices, guitars and other acoustic instruments to the stage of the Capitol Theatre for an evening of inspiring performances.
Over the past four years, 1864 – the light show and story of the ransoming, burning and rebirth of Chambersburg – attracted thousands of visitors. It showed the local events that were part of national history. Moving out of the 150th commemoration of the Civil War, celebrating the people, who rebuilt Chambersburg, is a main focus. The musical competition is a way of celebrating those people and their incredible spirit.
“1864 The Burning commemorates Franklin County’s history,” said Janet Pollard, executive director of the Franklin County Visitors Bureau. “A Cappella & Unplugged celebrates the spirit of the people, who brought Chambersburg to life after the burning. What better way to uplift and remember than with music.”
Since April, the Franklin County Visitors Bureau and the Capitol Theatre conducted a search for a cappella and unplugged talent to join the celebration in two rounds of exciting entertainment—the semi-final performance of A Cappella & Unplugged, onstage at the Capitol Theatre, June 27 and the final round, just before 1864 The Burning on July 18, 7 PM.
The panel of judges will narrow the competition at June 27th performance. Then, on July 1, the public gets a chance at voting for its favorite performer on Facebook.com/FCVBen, where clips of the top semi-finalists can be viewed.
The top six performers—the contestants with the most public votes—will have a chance to move forward in the competition and perform again on the evening of July 18 as part of the festivities leading up to 1864 before a champion is crowned.
In addition the grand prize, the champion will perform in front of thousands of people on the steps of the Franklin County Courthouse to open the 1864 light show.
Visitors to the event will be treated to a fun and glamorous evening. Bring a camera to record a red carpet moment before and after watching today’s stars perform.
