Franklin County Visitors Bureau Recommends Second Saturdays In Downtown Chambersburg
Franklin County PA (PRWEB) May 31, 2016 -- Second Saturdays are back this summer at Chambers Fort Park iin downown Chambersburg, featuring live music from 5 to 8 p.m. and movies beginning at dusk. Coordinated by Downtown Chambersburg Inc. (DCI), theSecond Saturday series kicks-off on June 11 and continues through September (July 9, August 13 and September 10).
“Providing free, family-friendly events in our downtown for people of all ages to enjoy is a priority for us,” said Noel Purdy, president of DCI. “We want everyone to experience all that downtown has to offer and take advantage of the great restaurants, retailers and business professionals who serve our community in the heart of Chambersburg.”
Second Saturday events begin with Concerts in the Park from 5 to 8 p.m. featuring local musicians. This concert schedule includes:
• June 11 – The Hello Strangers with opener Soleil
• July 9 – Wings That Buzz with opener Jonathan Ingels
• August 13 – Shawan and the Wonton with opener Carly Clark
• September 10 – NAS Trio with opener Waylon Smith
The concerts are sponsored by Volvo Construction Equipment, which maintains its construction headquarters division in Shippensburg, PA.
Following the live music will be the Downtown Summer Movie Series showing family-friendly films.
Second Saturday movies include:
• June 11 – Inside Out
• July 9 – Back to the Future
• August 13 – Zootopia
• September 10 – Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens
Sponsored by Summit Health, movies begin at dusk.
Second Saturdays are free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs.
