Franklin University Again Selected as a Top Military-Friendly School
Columbus, OH (PRWEB) December 20, 2013 -- Franklin University, one of the leading educators of working adults in central Ohio, is pleased to announce it has once again been named to the coveted Military Advanced Education (MAE) list of Top Military-Friendly Universities in its 2014 Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges & Universities.
From community colleges to state universities, online universities and nationally known centers of higher learning, MAE’s 2014 Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges & Universities provides potential students with information about institutions that go out of their way to give back to our men and women in uniform.
Among the attributes considered in evaluating this year’s institution for inclusion in the Guide are the flexibility of online learning options, extent of transfer credits accepted by degree level, on-campus ROTC, Service Member Opportunity Colleges (SOC) participation, on-campus active duty/veteran assistance, the support provided to the families of service members, faculty trained in veteran reintegration issues, presence on military installations, and full-time counselors trained in veteran-specific mental health concerns, to name but a few.
In addition to its repeated annual recognition by Military Advanced Education, Franklin is proud that its commitment to serving the educational needs of military students across the globe has been endorsed through repeated designation as a “Military Friendly School" by G.I. Jobs Magazine.
Students with military experience bring a high degree of maturity, life experiences, diversity, leadership and worldliness to the classroom which serves to enhance the academic desired outcome. Veterans, current service members, and their families offer a unique perspective that can benefit both students and faculty. Franklin University values this perspective and offers a number of services for veterans, service members, and current service member spouse/dependent students. Services include: tutoring, workshops, academic assistance, and a dedicated, centralized office for academic advising and veterans benefits, available both online and on campus for all registered students.
“Our staff used strict criteria to evaluate the submissions of the respondents, and we had a record number of schools participating this year. We believe the Guide serves as an invaluable tool for both education services officers and transition officers when advising service members about their educational opportunities,” said Kelly Fodel, MAE’s editor.
