Franklin University Appoints Dean of College of Health & Public Administration
Columbus, OH (PRWEB) September 24, 2013 -- Franklin University, one of the leading educators of working adults in central Ohio, is pleased to announce Dr. Karen Miner-Romanoff has been named Dean of the College of Health & Public Administration. Dr. Miner-Romanoff previously served as the Program Chair of the Criminal Justice Administration program. In her new role as Dean she will promote and support the vision and mission of Franklin University via curriculum planning, course scheduling, faculty staffing and development, and the evaluation and continuous improvement of curriculum within the College. She will work to resolve faculty issues, supervise program chairs, ensure the overall quality of curriculum, ensure that programs conduct appropriate learning-outcome assessment, and assure the quality of the overall student experience.
Dr. Miner-Romanoff’s academic and professional path illustrates educational excellence and diversity. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University, a Master of Arts in Public Policy and Administration from The Ohio State University, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Toledo- College of Law where she graduated valedictorian, and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Arizona State University.
Since joining Franklin University in 2011, Dr. Miner-Romanoff has led and served the mission and goals of the University in a number of significant ways. She established the highly successful Criminal Justice program; established a 25-member advisory board, chaired the Statistics Task Force; served on the Honorary Doctorate Selection Committee; established the Criminal Justice Speaker Series and Department of Youth Services Art Exhibit Event; served as the Scholarship Forum Event Chair, and served as advisor to the Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society.
Dr. Miner-Romanoff brings a commitment to leadership and service to the position of Dean. Her public, private, and non-profit sector experience includes having served as Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff and Chief Counsel for the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Ohio, as counselor for the Romanoff Group, as Associate Attorney for Squire, Sanders & Dempsey Attorneys at Law; and as a Judicial Clerk for the United States Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit, and for the United States District Court, Northern District of Ohio. She has over a decade of teaching and course development experience having served as a lecturer at The Ohio State University, Assistant Professor at Capital University in the Criminology and Sociology departments, and as an Adjunct Professor at Capital University.
Dr. Miner-Romanoff remains active through community service and leadership. She is a Certification Peer Reviewer for the Academy of Criminal Justice Science; serves on the Ohio Juvenile Justice Alliance Steering Committee, (Children’s Defense Fund); Ohio Inspector General Fraud Conference Task Force Steering Committee; as a mentor for the John Glenn School of Public Policy: Ohio State University; on the American Bar Association: Juvenile Justice Sentencing and Standards committee; and is the Administrator for the Columbus Foundation’s Edith Miner Memorial Scholarship in Criminal Justice.
