Frederick Innovative Technology Center, Inc. hosts events: Celebration Friday and BioBeers on April 21, 2017
(PRWEB) April 21, 2017 -- Frederick Innovative Technology Center, Inc. (FITCI), a business incubator and accelerator dedicated to nourishing a range of emerging bio and technology start-ups, is hosting “Celebration Friday” (a festive gathering highlighting client success stories) and BioBeers on April 21, 2017. This double event will start with libations and networking at 3:30 p.m. at FITCI’s 4539 Metropolitan Court location, off English Muffin Way. There is a raffle and short program at 4:00, with brief statements by Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner and Frederick City Mayor Randy McClement. BioBeers social and games begin at 4:30. Attendees will also get a sneak peek at details of FITCI’s second business incubator/accelerator opening soon in downtown Frederick.
Both events are free and open to the public, thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Verve Partnership: Douron & Hon. The company recently sponsored furnishings for FITCI’s expanded training and conference center, which will match planned décor at the new downtown location. Celebration Friday presents several recent successes for FITCI clients:
§ RoosterBio raised $5.1 million in capital and will soon “graduate” from FITCI, successfully launching the company as a contributor to the region’s economic and employment growth engine. RoosterBio will graduate from FITCI and into the local economy this coming summer.
§ NEOS, an investment fund focused on information technology products and services, is also graduating from FITCI.
§ Trideum Bioscience’s team, led by Dr. Mina Izadjoo, won the first-place award for “Innovation in North America” in March from the Journal of Wound Care (JWC), London, for the company’s contributions to improving treatment of antibiotic resistant pathogens.
§ BioElectronics, a 2010 FITCI grad, recently received approval from the FDA for its ActiPatch product, a drug free technology to fight chronic muscle & joint pain.
§ TimberRock, a 2016 FITCI grad, recently received the “Bright Lights Award for Innovation and Entrepreneurship” from Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot. The award recognizes innovation that strengthens the state’s economy, generates jobs and tax revenue, and fosters new ideas in the marketplace.
Founded in 2004, FITCI is Frederick’s first incubator. A non-profit corporation, FITCI is a public-private partnership of the governments of Frederick County and the City of Frederick, and the business community. FITCI was created with the support from the state of Maryland to foster entrepreneurial activity by providing companies with the tools for a solid foundation.
