Frederick Rescue Mission (FRM) and Interfaith Housing Alliance (IHA) Are "Changing Lives Together"
Frederick, MD (PRWEB) June 25, 2014 -- Frederick Rescue Mission (FRM) and Interfaith Housing Alliance (IHA) have been serving the people of Frederick County and helping them make positive changes in their lives for decades. FRM celebrates 50 years of service and IHA celebrates 24 years. Together they have touched thousands by providing needed services and permanent stability with compassion.
Over the past year, the two nonprofits have been discussing ways they could help each other make a greater impact locally.
IHA and FRM have found a creative way to use the IHA property located at 731 North Market to the benefit of the Frederick community.
WHO:

WHAT:
Frederick Rescue Mission has presented a proposal to purchase the property owned by IHA located at 731 North Market Street predicated on a zoning appeal approval. The property on Market St. contains 2 buildings – the house which is IHA’s offices and Natelli Manor, a 12-unit apartment building.
Interfaith Housing Alliance will be relocating their offices in Frederick after the proposed purchase is completed, sometime in early 2015. They will continue to provide affordable rental communities and supportive services, homeownership options, financial education and property management and will celebrate their 25th anniversary from their new headquarters.
IHA will be working with FRM to continue to maintain the property and manage Natelli Manor apartments with the present tenants and supportive services in place.
Frederick Rescue Mission will continue to operate their other programs in Frederick at their current location located at 419 W. South Street.
WHY:
FRM will use the office building for a shelter for 8 to 10 homeless women and their children, ages birth to 12. The women will be participants in a 90-day Personal Development Program with staff onsite 24/7. IHA will not be involved in the operation of Faith House.
IHA will continue to provide affordable housing solutions in the Frederick community. They work with other nonprofits in Frederick and help their clients by offering opportunities to transition into permanent housing and to develop financial stability.
HOW:
There will be a selective intake process since Faith House will be a shelter with a Program. Those wanting to start the process of a “changed life” will be eligible for Faith House. All residents will be drug tested on a regular and random basis. Faith House will be drug and alcohol free.
Several distinctions about Faith House: 1) It will not be a drop in – “come and go as you please” shelter. 2) It will not be a “soup kitchen” and 3) It will not be a hang out.
WHERE:
For 18 years, IHA has operated at 731 North Market with up to 16 staff onsite. Visibly there should be very little discernible difference to the community at the north end of Market St. as the transition is made and the services of Faith House continue.

In that time they have built over 1150 units of housing including single family, townhome and apartment communities plus three shelters.
