Freeditorial’s Annual Literary Contest Announced for 2016
Jersey City, NJ (PRWEB) February 04, 2016 -- Online publisher Freeditorial.com, specialists in classic and contemporary literature, has an-nounced their annual literary contest.
During the contest’s announcement, company spokesperson Yolanda Montesinos expressed how important the program is for future writers. “The writing industry is notoriously difficult for new and young authors,” she said. “Part of the reason for this contest is to help writers get the exposure and tools they need to get a foot in the door and succeed.”
The contest is open to writers anywhere in the world and features an interactive component to encourage writers to connect with new audiences. Potential readers, other writers, and industry professionals like publishers and book agents will all be watching.
If you would like to be part of this exciting contest, submit your application package before July 31, 2016. Awards will be handed out around Thanksgiving Day. Entries are submitted via the website in Docx files. All entries must be either fiction or historical works in the English language.
Exposure helps attract readers and increases the chances of winning the contest. Freeditorial is active in helping writers figure out ways to promote their material through an account on their website. After a writer signs up for an account and enters their log in credentials, they can monitor readership and develop promotional strategies.
Montesinos believes transparency in numbers can only help writers in their exposure. “The contest works like this,” she explained, “Freeditorial, displays the submissions and lists them in descending order of downloads. That way, writers can see how their work is doing. The winner is determined based on the quality and originality of the work, but also the number of downloads they have. Rather than focusing solely on the work, we determine people’s ability to creatively connect with potential readers.” Protocols are in place to make sure the download rankings are representative of the number of real downloads, such as excluding multiple downloads on the same IP address.
Winners won’t simply win exposure, however, there is also a cash prize of $15,000 for the first place participant. Second place and the runner-up will receive $5,000 and $2,000 respectively.
