Fresh Coat Painters of West Houston Owners Set to Paint Two Rooms at No Charge for People Fighting Cancer While Facing Their Own Cancer Battles
Houston, TX (PRWEB) May 20, 2014 -- When Eric & Alyssa Ascencio along with Yuri and Claudia Lorenzsonn decided to open Fresh Coat Painters of West Houston in early 2013, Eric’s colon cancer was in remission and he had high hopes for launching a professional painting company in his community. But just before the official launch date, Eric got the news – the cancer was back, it was in his liver and lungs, and it was stage four. Then, while fighting his own battle, his 8-year-old daughter Mia was diagnosed with Leukemia.
While Mia and Eric continue to fight, they are doing better and they want to show their thanks for all the support they received from the community by painting rooms for others battling cancer at no charge. In fact, Fresh Coat West Houston plans to paint two free rooms for one family each quarter, and the first winners have been selected – the Lauritzen Family of Katy, TX.
“We’ve known we wanted to give back since the beginning, but it’s become even more important to us since Mia’s diagnosis. The community has just been fantastic. We’ve received everything from donations to meals cooked by our neighbors and it has made a big different for us. Painting rooms for people who are fighting cancer is just something we can do to pay it forward,” Eric said.

Not to mention our excitement on finally getting our dream room too. Sometimes something like this is what makes the difference between letting the cancer consume you or being strong enough to get through one more day,” Mrs. Lauritzen said.
