(OTC Markets: VEND), North America's leading healthy vending franchisor, announced an addition to its New York franchises, with the selection of Long Island franchise owner Ron Leder. Leder installed five Fresh Healthy Vending machines throughout the Long Island, NY area last month, adding to the already 36 machines currently placed throughout New York.
After a career in the pharmaceutical industry, Leder recently launched his Fresh Healthy Vending franchise with his mother, Malka Rucker, and the support of San Diego-based franchisor Fresh Healthy Vending International, Inc. As their first dually owned business venture, the mother-son team will operate nine machines at various locations in the area. The new machines will substitute traditional vending machines for healthier snacks and beverages, such as smoothies, soymilk, fruit, vegetables, yogurt granola bars, baked chips and natural sodas.
"In recent years, I’ve placed a strong emphasis on making healthier changes and positive food choices in my own life and, in turn, want to instill this mentality and provide the healthier options for the youth in my community,” said franchisee Ron Leder. “The lack of healthy products available to kids in schools and after-school activity locations is disappointing. I wanted to offer a solution that would make healthy options more available, without losing the convenience that vending machines bring to schools and businesses.”
Secured by Fresh Healthy Vending International, Inc. and operated by Leder and Rucker, Mt. Saint Ursula Academy in New Rochelle, NY was one of the first locations to install Fresh Healthy Vending in the community. The private, all-girls school of 350 students removed four traditional vending machines, comprised of candy, non-baked chips and sugar-filled sodas, for the installment of its first Fresh Healthy Vending machine, which sold out in the first day.

The other four locations taking the initiative for healthier vending options with Fresh Healthy Vending machines are the Commack Public Library in Commack, NY; Nubreed Martial Arts in Whitestone, NY; Elite Dance Studio in Fairport, NY; and All Star Studio in Forest Hills, NY.
