Calgary, Alberta, Canada (PRWEB) September 29, 2015 -- Friends of Science Society is questioning the hypocrisy of discussing climate change at COP-21 in Paris, France, a city which has had episodes of some of the worst air quality in the world, as reported March 20, 2015 by France 24, apparently due in large part, to the promotion of diesel cars, according to this Bloomberg View commentary, published Sept. 23, 2015. In addition, Friends of Science Society is asking Alberta Premier Rachel Notley to review her recent negative comments regarding provincial air quality and environmental standards, as outlined in a commentary by Michelle Stirling in the Calgary Herald of Sept. 27, 2015. Friends of Science submission to the Alberta government's climate panel is here.
According to the World Health Organization, Canada has the third best air quality in the world, as reported by the CBC on Sept. 26, 2011, with both Calgary and Edmonton ranked in the top ten best air quality cities in Canada for low levels (below 13 micro-grams) of particulate matter smaller than 10 microns (PM10) per cubic meter.
Premier Notley spoke to the Alberta Chambers of Commerce on Sept. 22, 2015, claiming that Alberta’s air quality was poor and saying that if Alberta did not get its environmental house in order, measures would be "imposed" upon them. [LINK: youtu.be/FTcQr3XUd7c]
Friends of Science reject this statement pointing out the hypocrisy of bowing to the pressure UN Climate Change policy advocates, when some 50,000 COP-21 participants are expected to go to Paris, France by fossil fueled transportation to ‘save the planet.’[LINK: cop21paris.org/about/cop21]
According to Friends of Science Society, the Canadian government and Alberta’s Premier Notley should demand the rest of the world meet Canada’s track record which includes, from 1985 to 2011 industrial carbon monoxide emissions dropped 26%; industrial carbon particulate emissions went down 44%; industrial sulfur dioxide emissions were reduced 69%, all the while total economic output went up by 89%. Friends of Science Society points to the Volkswagen diesel emissions duping scandal and the statement that Volkswagen is ‘endlessly sorry,’ as reported by ABC Sept 22, 2015 and asks when similar statements of regret will be issued by climate change advocates who have imposed heat-or-eat poverty on millions of people in the UK and EU as reported by E&E, Jan. 3, 2014. Likewise, Friends ask who will say they are sorry for the millions of rural residents who have had their pastoral lives and property values ruined by wind farms, now that Google engineers have exposed the fact that wind and solar are ineffective in fighting climate change and 'simply won't work,' as reported by The Register, Nov. 21, 2014 [LINK: theregister.co.uk/2014/11/21/renewable_energy_simply_wont_work_google_renewables_engineers/].
Friends of Science hold the position that the sun is the main driver of climate change, not you, not CO2.
About
Friends of Science Society has spent a decade reviewing a broad spectrum of literature on climate change and have concluded the sun is the main driver of climate change, not carbon dioxide (CO2). Friends of Science welcomes earth, atmospheric and solar scientists, engineers and citizens who challenge the alleged consensus on climate change.
