Frogger Celebrates Ten Years in the Golf Industry
Bend, OR (PRWEB) January 27, 2016 -- Good (or not-so-good) golf products come and go. We call them fads. Great golf products, on the other hand, have stories, and all the very best stories begin with an idea. Jeremiah Bohannon didn’t start out as a golfer (commercial real estate by trade), but he took an ordinary golf brush, and saw an opportunity to improve it. It was more than just an idea for a product, though. Bohannon had a bigger vision—a golf company whose mission was crafted around the simple notion of making the best golf products, well, even better.
Thus, Frogger was launched in 2006, and grew from there. In January, 2006, Frogger (Bohannon plus two) showed up at the PGA Show with a prototype of their first golf brush. Two years (and a few product updates) later, they returned with an improved version of the BrushPro, a golf brush featuring metal bristles in the middle, with nylon bristles towards the outside, thus preventing fraying (a now patented design) and won “Best New Product” Award.
Innovation
In the following years, the company released many additional award-winning products, including the wet/dry Amphibian Towel for clubs and balls, bamboo tees that are seven times stronger, a green repair tool, a golf cart poncho, and several training aids. This level of innovation has been one of the driving forces behind the success of Frogger and Bohannon as an entrepreneurial endeavor.
“We’re not a ‘me too’ product, we don’t do things because others are. We listen to our customers to improve the experience, and develop common sense products that resonate with the golf population,” said Jeremiah Bohannon, Frogger CEO.
This year, in celebration of its 10th anniversary, Frogger is releasing multiple new products that are redefining innovation, including:
• Function f(x) golf stand bags
• Catch Latch Bag & Belt
• Catch Latch BrushPro
• Trax Towels with Catch Latch
• Two new amphibian towel designs
• New Fly Dry Apparel Shirts and Hats (exclusively at Froggergolf.com)
Passion
Another key factor has been the amount of passion (and resources) Bohannon has been willing to invest in Frogger. His initial attempts to market Frogger products came from exhausting personal funding sources and traditional means such as infomercials on the “Golf Channel”. As he is priced out of those options, he looks for new ways to engage, utilizing social media and events.
“Today, you see ‘mom and pop’ small businesses struggle to get their product in front of the masses,” said Bohannon.
One of Frogger’s goals, and that of many golf entrepreneurs, was to break into the golf retail world. While Frogger has accomplished this, they are still looking to expand their reach and introduce their products to new markets.
Persistence.
In between retailer meetings and product demonstrations, life happens. Recently, Bohannon and his family experienced a devastating house fire in October, 2015, that has left the family displaced yet today. Luckily, everyone was safe, and as they rebuild, business runs as usual.
As Frogger celebrates ten years in the golf industry this month, Bohannon reflects on business and life, “You need this unrelenting persistence and passion to make it work. Hopefully you hit a point where it is profitable enough to enjoy the ride with the pain along the way—and when you know what direction you’re going, you’ll have a better story because of it.”
