From Technology Rush to the Space Rush
Silicon Valley,California (PRWEB) July 25, 2013 -- The 80’s and 90’s were about the explosion of the Internet; Apple, Google, Facebook, Amazon, eBay, etc. These next twenty-five years and beyond will be about Space exploration. Who will be the next Bill Gates or Steve Jobs in the new space technology industry? Want to meet them?
The Silicon Valley Space Center (SVSC) and its co-founder Dr. Sean Casey are participating in The New Space Frontier Foundation's annual conference on Thursday, July 25th thru Saturday 27th at the DoubleTree, 2050 Gateway Place, San Jose 95110. SVSC is the premiere facility for assisting space entrepreneurs to get off the ground and into Space and for students to learn the wonders of Space scientific exploration. This event is one of the most important conferences in the nation for Space start-ups. SVSC will be showcasing some of the brightest new companies in the business and some amazing student programs. So where is the next Bill Gates of Space. First stop, Silicon Valley Space Center’s Pavilion.
SILICON VALLEY SPACE CENTER’S PARTICIPATING START-UPS
Alanax- Founder Brian Barritt
Email lost in Space? Never with Brian Barritt’s Alanax aeronautical communication products. Before hardware is built or a mission is launched, Alanax lets flight operators listen to the quality of voice, streaming video and see how long it takes to receive an email. Now staying in touch in space is a keystroke away.
Base to Space- Founder David Wright
Ever wonder who will be the LegalZoom of space? Someone has to be responsible for what goes up and how it comes down. David Wright’s Base to Space takes the stress out of government compliances to help the right Space projects have the clearance for up, up and away.
Positron Dynamics-Co-Founder Ryan Weed
What matters? Anti matter mixing with matter as a fuel source matters. On earth anti matter is expensive and we haven’t been able to create it efficiently until now. Positron Dynamics has invented the solution. It could change our fuel system not only in Space, but here on earth.
Infinity Aerospace – Co-Founder Manu Sharma
Infinity Aerospace dramatically makes Space experiments more affordable for students and researchers, using information technology to make them smaller and more efficient per pound. Experiments are placed in a cube-sized container, designed specifically for micro-gravity research aboard the International Space Station or suborbital launch vehicles. Created with off the shelf and open source hardware that is low cost and very capable….”plug and play” concept
Optimus Space-Alex Luebke, Chief Executive Officer
What happens in an emergency when the power goes out either here or in space? Optimus Space to the Rescue. Using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and inflatable structures for use in earth orbit, lunar, or planetary exploration, Optimus Space is working with major cities to develop emergency relay stations to maximize disaster relief efficiency. They are launching Rescue, an integrated solution for cities to gain complete awareness of disaster situations instantly.
Space Start Up Weekend- Founder Ruben Metcalf
A space entrepreneur with a great idea sometimes does not know how or where to pitch it? Check out Space Start Up Weekends and learn how to create a presentation and pitch it before real VC’s interested in Space investments. This may be a big chance to be funded and get a Space enterprise off the ground and into Space.
SMART KIDS IN SPACE
TechEdSat- Founder San Jose State Professor, Periklis Papadopoulos
Phone networks in Space? You bet. San Jose State’s Aeronautical Engineer Professor Periklis Papadopoulos created TechEdSat for his students to design and develop Space products. First up to bat, a mini satellite 1U cube sat version already launched from the International Space Station (ISS). It’s purpose? To perform inter satellite communications from Space utilizing the Iridium and Orbcomm phone network. The 1U was the first mini satellite to be launched from the ISS. Now his students are working on the second generation, a 3U that will deploy from the ISS, which will eliminate the necessity for a ground system.
Prossat- Co-Founder Juan Arrata (Deputy Director Arebico, Puerto Rico) and Dr. Sean Casey, Silicon Valley Space Center
Puerto Rican high school and college students have spent the summer at the Silicon Valley Space Center learning how to develop a greenhouse system for Space. Applications are enormous for living in space, medicine, food and of course biological testing. With their small eco system these students’ first experiments have been growing arugula and redwoods. So the next time in the grocery shop or walk in the forest, remember soon this too will be in Space.
I Dream of Space- Founder Reuben Metcalf
XCOR and Virgin Galactic’s 6-digit cost for suborbital Space rides are not available to everyone. Ruben Metcalfe’s I Dream of Space is leveling the playing field. For $10 everyone has a chance for a suborbital trip of a lifetime. Give I Dream of Space tickets for birthday presents, stocking stuffers, or caring gifts. Because in this drawing one lucky ticket holder will win a Space “ticket to ride.”
