Fuelstrip Enters the Octagon to Gauge Fighters' Precise Fueling Needs at Bellator 106 and UFC Fight for the Troops 3
Miami, Florida (PRWEB) October 30, 2013 -- Fuelstrip, a Miami-based sports science company, announced today that it has joined forces with MMA powerhouses Daniel Straus and Colton Smith to analyze their energy levels and assist them in refueling for maximum performance during the upcoming Bellator 106 and the Ultimate Fighting Championship® UFC Fight for the Troops 3 live televised events.
Created by sports medicine physicians, the Fuelstrip products allow athletes to customize their hydration program based on their specific sport, day-to-day needs, and training demands. Both fighters will use Fuelstrip between rounds to detect levels of fuel depletion to gauge exactly how much energy is needed to refuel.
Straus, whose fight co-headlines the Bellator 106 event, is returning from a yearlong layoff to take on Pat Curran for the Bellator Featherweight Title in Long Beach, Calif., on Saturday, November 2, at 9:00 p.m. ET. Straus was originally set to challenge Curran for the world title in April at Bellator 95, but he broke his hand in training and was forced to withdraw from the bout. The event airs live on Spike TV following prelims on Spike.com.
Former armed forces veteran Smith brings Fuelstrip to Fight for the Troops 3, a special three-hour UFC event on FOX Sports 1 on Wednesday, November 6, at 7:00 p.m. ET. The event, which takes place at Fort Campbell in Hopkinsville, KY., will be a showdown between Smith and another former “The Ultimate Fighter” winner Michael Chiesa.
“We are excited to announce this opportunity with Bellator and UFC, and are looking forward to a mutually beneficial relationship,” said Joshua Kunis, chief executive officer at Fuelstrip. “MMA is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and these televised events give Fuelstrip a tremendous opportunity to teach a loyal fan base that with technology you can bring training and performance to the next level without it being a guessing game.”
Added Dr. Bo Rosenblat, founder and medical director at Fuelstrip, "Using Fuelstrip between rounds provides an invaluable resource for the MMA athletes and their teams to gauge the fighter’s energy level and improve performance through proper refueling."
