Fun Home is billed as more than just a musical, it’s called a new kind of musical. The show had a breakout night at the Tony Awards winning more than just the award for Best Musical as it also took home four other awards. Even before being recognized for its greatness at the largest musical award show in the world, Fun Home had already received numerous kind words from critics around the New York Tri State area including New York Magazine who called it “somewhat of a miracle,” Huffington Post who called it the “the best Broadway musical in years,” and Ben Brentley from the New York Times who called it “the best new musical to open on Broadway.”
The incredible show doesn’t feature the big names of other shows on Broadway but what it lacks in names it makes up in remarkable skill and talent. Starring in Fun Home is Michael Cerveris, Judy Kuhn, Beth Malone, Emily Skeggs, Sydney Lucas, Roberta Colindrez, Joel Perez, Zell Steele Morrow, Oscar Williams, and many more. Together, this group of actors has worked to make this show one of the most talked about on or Off-Broadway.
Located at 235 West 50th St. in Midtown Manhattan in the Paramount Building, the Circle in the Square Theatre originally opened its doors in 1970. It has been the home of many memorable shows over the years Death of a Salesman; Ah, Wilderness!; The Glass Menagerie, Sweeney Todd, Glory Days, Godspell, Bronx Bombers, Soul Doctor, Last Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill, and The River. Fans looking to catch this award-winning show can do so six days a week with Monday being its only day off. On Wednesday and Saturday, fans will have two chances to see Fun Home with a 2 pm matinee.
