Further Expansion of Open Data in Rail
London (PRWEB UK) 24 January 2014 -- Real-time information experts Rockshore have continued to work with Network Rail; opening up real-time train running data as part of their transparency initiative.
Feedback from the initial data release in 2012 demonstrated that timetable data in a CIF format was in high demand. This has now been opened up as part of a Phase 2 release of the Open Data platform. By allowing access to this data, Network Rail is now able to meet the needs of the developer community, on a self-service basis.
The latest data release, made available on 21st January 2014, also saw Rockshore work with Network Rail to open up access to reference data from BPLAN, which contains network topology data. Access to this will provide a range of stakeholders with a greater understanding of timetabling challenges and how problems are dealt with. For example, sectional running times between locations, platform lengths and available traction power supplies on the network.
Rockshore are looking forward to a continued successful partnership with Network Rail.
