Ocoee, FL (PRWEB) January 26, 2016 -- FX Design Group has designed and built a new news set for WHIO, the #1 CBS affiliate in the country. WHIO, the market leader in Dayton, debuted the new set to enhance storytelling, breaking news, and showcase the anchor team with utmost versatility.
“From our initial design discussions, I created a warm, contemporary look,” said John Griffin, FX Designer. “Local flavor and warmth is provided by the brick accent walls behind the anchor and weather desks.”
The anchor desk is unique with an internally-lit iconic Circle 7 logo and a two monitor array on the face. The main news desk features color-changing elements throughout and provides the set with a pop of color and versatility.
Technology is a big part of the set with the large video array and several other positions with multiple monitor setups. The triple monitor area has 3 - 60" monitors that rotate and pivot to allow shots from multiple angles. While perfect for sports shows, with the color change and lighting technology, the station can use it for virtually any type of programming or news product.
StormTeam7’s new home features an oversize walk-on Chroma key (green screen) and other enhanced showcasing for the weather team to get Dayton’s challenging weather home to viewers. To embellish on the video tech and advancements, the set has an 80" touch screen in the weather center, but it can be rolled into different locations to be used for other story segments.
“Weather is the most important thing we do, and substantial thought was put into design of the new Storm Center 7,” said David Bennallack, Senior Managing Director of WHIO-TV, Radio and Digital. “The design will help our Meteorologists use their technology from multiple areas while they are live on TV and Radio, allowing them to quickly track and report changing conditions.”
This technology driven set has many features that lend flexibility to shooting newscasts, but also to showcase reporters in breaking news situations and in-depth coverage. FX designed the set not for today, but for tomorrow, so that changes, enhancements and embellishments are easily added henceforth.
