G2 Software Systems Receives $8M, 2-Year Contract from Department of the Navy, SPAWAR
San Diego (PRWEB) October 22, 2013 -- G2 Software Systems Inc. (G2) announced today that it has been awarded an $8 million, 2-year contract by the Department of the Navy, Space and Naval Warfare System Command (SPAWAR), to support the Joint (UHF) MILSATCOM Network Integrated (JMINI) Control System (CS) Refresh.
“We’re very excited to be working on this integrated product team with the government, supported by our long-time partners at SAIC,” said Pete Keyes, G2 General Manager. “The JMINI CS Refresh will extend the useful life of this critical Joint Forces communication tool at least a decade beyond its expected end of life.”
The JMINI CS is a legacy system developed in the late 1990s to provide channel control for UHF Satellite Communications. JMINI CS comprises computer hardware and software, as well as radios, modems and other related satellite communications equipment. Seamless integration of these various subsystems is central to the operational integrity of the overall system. The existing JMINI CS architecture poses significant challenges with supportability and obsolescence. Even if the hardware could be maintained, the computer equipment does not have the processing capability to handle operating systems that are currently supported with more recently developed critical security enhancements.
The G2/SAIC Team will provide the Government with design, engineering, development, integration, testing, and technical deliverables as part of the Government led Integrated Product Team. The Team’s efforts will include program management, information assurance, logistics, quality assurance, prototype design and development, engineering and testing as necessary to meet all requirements of the contract.
