Galapagos Tours Co. Announces the Addition of a New Yacht for an Exciting Galapagos Island Tour
Galapagos Islands, Ecuador (PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- The Galápagos Tours Co. announces the newest addition to their fleet, the motor yacht, “Altamar.” The “Altamar” is a beautiful Ocean Yachts Super Sport 55 that is fast, comfortable and luxurious. The new yacht will be used for day trips in the Galapagos Islands, offering tours every day of the week and leaving early in the morning from Puerto Ayora.
Depending on the departure day, breakfast will be served either at the hotel or on board the yacht as it cruises to the scheduled island. Lunch is prepared by a chef on board. After visiting two islands and enjoying a period of snorkeling, the yacht will return back to Puerto Ayora to spend the night.
The “Altamar” joins the “Aida Maria” and the “Eden” in offering passengers a chance to step back in time with a personalized approach to exploring the islands of the Galapagos.
Background:
The “Aida Maria” was constructed in 1997 in the Galapagos Islands from local timber. It offers eight very comfortable cabins on three decks and has an extremely comfortable sitting and dining area with a small library, TV, bar and a sundeck.
The “Eden” was built in 1996 and completely refurbished in 2012. It accommodates 16 guests and its itinerary is one of the most complete, giving nature-lovers the opportunity to see a wide variety of sites with all the Galapagos Islands have to offer.
A traveler on a Galapagos Islands tour is assured of receiving personalized service on each of these vessels as they only accommodate a maximum number of 16 passengers each. The professional crew of 9 includes an English-Spanish speaking naturalist guide who accompanies guests on every excursion. The guide is familiar with each and every aspect of the islands and is able to answer any questions about the geography and wildlife of the islands.
A Galapagos cruise includes daily nature walks to view the land animals and birds like the famous Blue-footed Boobies, the dragon-like land iguana, which can weigh as much as 15 pounds and the giant Galapagos Tortoise, for which the islands were named. These tortoises can weigh up to 800 pounds. A Galapagos Islands tour is an ideal way for active nature lovers to explore the island’s many fascinating creatures from the past.
Also included on a Galapagos cruise, are snorkeling trips that allow passengers the rare privilege of seeing some of the most unique sea dwellers of the Galapagos Islands in their natural habitat. No other place in the world offers such a wide diversity of marine life, including large schools of inshore grunts and snappers, manta rays, sea turtles, and the only marine iguanas in existence in the world today.
A Brief History:
The Galapagos Islands were created by volcanic eruptions piling up until the volcanic lava was pushed to the surface of the ocean. The terrain is rugged, consisting of varied lava formations, volcanic peaks and moon-like landscapes. Coastal areas include vertical cliffs, sandy beaches, rocky shores, mangroves, lagoons and salt pools. Tours offer adventurers a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will always be remembered.
Galapagos Tours Co. has been offering intimate, personalized cruises since the 1960’s.
