Game for Visually Impaired Players Reaches Goal on Kickstarter
Seoul, Seattle, New York, Boston, LA, Dallas (PRWEB) December 29, 2015 -- JI EUM, a rhythm based RPG designed for visually impaired players, has exceeded its funding goal on crowdfunding site, Kickstarter.
The Kickstarter campaign, which started on December 1, 2015 closed on December 22, 2015 successfully. The proceeds from the Kickstarter campaign will go to help fund the localization of the game from Korean into English. It will also help the developer to further market the game in Western countries.
JI EUM is a rhythm based RPG that uses sounds and rhythm combinations to enable characters to move and attack. The story is set in feudal Korea, loosely based on the traditional folktale of humanity's quest to retrieve the gift of light and music that was once bestowed upon them by their god. Through the use of rhythmic techniques, players equip their characters with traditional Korean drums commonly used in feudal Korea. By creating visceral sounds and vibrations through their mobile device, even players who are visually impaired are able to navigate their way through the RPG. Each level is artfully designed with a deep storyline and immersive gameplay through sounds so that it can be enjoyed by players of all background. Players can also explore life and customs of traditional Korea through the traditional drums and the profound cultural impact they had on feudal entertainment during the Joseon Dynasty.

Danuon believes that JI EUM is an extension of the company’s core values. By creating a game that is designed with visually impaired players in mind the directional touch UI and voice assisted UX help users navigate through screens without the need for visual action. When combined with the rich cultural story of feudal Korea and gameplay actions, Danuon believes they have achieved the goal of making a game that is truly fun for all.
“Our passion is in gaming, but we realize that very little efforts are being made to help gamers with disabilities. We hope through our efforts, we can disrupt the current landscape and bring more games to a wider audience including those with disabilities.” Yongtae Kim, CEO
Danuon developers believe that this grassroots support was likely the catalyst for its success. JI EUM is available for FREE on App Store and Google Play.
