GamePop enters Japan with Sumitomo Corporation
Tokyo, Japan (PRWEB) September 17, 2014 -- GamePop, the #1 gaming service for TV, announced their entry into the Japan market at the Tokyo Game Show 2014 in partnership with industry leaders for cable TV and mobile services. BlueStacks and Presidio Ventures earlier announced the latter’s investment in BlueStacks in connection with the GamePop service. Based in Silicon Valley California, Presidio Ventures is the investment arm of Sumitomo Corporation. Sumitomo Corporation, a major shareholder in J:COM, are adding gaming services to their massive portfolio of cable TV and media services. Sumitomo Corp. are also rapidly spreading their presence in the cable TV business and media services across Asia-Pacific through strategic investments.

GamePop first launched in the US in 2013 as a white-label solution for cable companies and TV manufacturers to bring mobile gaming to TV. Since then, GREE, Ubisoft, Warner Brothers and hundreds of other gaming companies have signed on to the platform. Other investors in the company include Samsung Ventures, Andreessen-Horowitz, Qualcomm, Intel, AMD, Redpoint, Ignition Partners, Radar Partners and others.
