GameTime Week 3 Features MidFirst Bank Backyard Bowl
(PRWEB) September 06, 2017 -- YurView, an exclusive regional network available to Cox video customers, announced its third weekend of GameTime high school football coverage. The big match-up this weekend are two long-time rivals from Oklahoma – Union vs. Jenks. The game is available to all Cox subscribers and streaming live to everyone on yurview.com. Regional action begins Friday, Sept. 8th including an inter-state match-up between Archbishop Rummel (Louisiana) vs. Escambia (Florida). Other top games include Higley vs. Saguaro (Arizona), Choctaw vs. Sand Springs (Oklahoma) and Jefferson vs. Lincoln (Iowa). Regional games will be televised in specific Cox markets, and streaming live on yurview.com. Union vs. Jenks (Ford Game of the Week - Oklahoma)

Overview: Union takes on Jenks in the MidFirst Bank Backyard Bowl. The last 21 6A and 6A Division 1 championships have been won by Union or Jenks. Coached by Kirk Fridrich, Union is the defending 6A Division 1 state champion and favored to win it again this year. Offensive standouts for Union are WR CJ Moore (Oklahoma State Commit) and RB Darius Boone (offer from Iowa State). Defensive leaders include Oklahoma commits DB Patrick Fields and DL Jordan Kelley. Jenks looks to bounce back after losing its season opener to Owasso 48-10. They are led by junior QB Ian Corwin who set the school passing records last year. On defense, they return most of their starters including LB’s Mitchell Kulkin and Noah Strong. Coach Allan Trimble has won 13 state championships at Jenks.
Archbishop Rummel (Louisiana) vs. Escambia (Florida)

Overview: The Raiders of Archbishop Rummel travel to Emmitt Smith Field in Pensacola, FL to take on the Escambia Gators. The Raiders finished last season 7-4 and lost in the state playoff quarterfinals. The offense is led by WR’s Ja’Marr Chase (Florida Commit), Evan Francioni, Cole Young and Jermie Walker. On defense, senior CB Aaron Brule is ranked 19th on the NOLA.com Nifty 50 list of top recruits in Louisiana. He is highly recruited by schools including Georgia, Mississippi State, Texas, TCU and Kansas. The Escambia Gators finished last season with a 5-6 record and lost in first round of playoffs. The Gators offense is led by WR Jacob Copeland (Florida Commit) ranked 46th on the ESPN 300 and RB Queven Dosunmu who averaged 8.0 yards-per-carry last season. The Defense is led by Senior DB Chris McCray and DT Daishon Folsom who has offers from 6 schools including Southern Miss, UCF and Virginia State.
Choctaw vs. Sand Springs (Ford Game of the Week - Oklahoma)

Overview: Coach Dustin Kinnard leads a Sand Springs team that has made the state semifinals all three years of 6A Division II competition. The workhouse for the Sandites is Running Back Payton Scott. Last season, Scott rushed for over 1,900 yards last year, averaged nearly 30 carries a game and scored 20 touchdowns. For Choctaw, new Head Coach Jake Corbin takes over a team that is 17-15 the last three years. Corbin will employ an upbeat offense led by Sr. QB Hudson Woods who looks make the Yellowjackets more of a passing threat this season. RB Jaryn Curry will be the go-to-guy while WR’s Ethan Crews, Dakota and Collin Armstrong will be the primary targets for Woods in the passing game. Defensive leaders for Choctaw include Isaiah Sumlin and Caulin Poole upfront with LB Christian Diz and CB Tae Gibbs.
Higley @ Saguaro (Arizona)

Overview: Saguaro has dominated the state scene over the past ten seasons with six state titles. They will attempt to become the first team in Arizona history to win 5 straight state championships. Even though they graduated 13 players, Head Coach Jason Mohns is confident his Sabercat squad will be up to the task. Returning players include senior QB Max Massingale who threw for over 2,000 yards/30 TDs and rushed for over 1,000 yards. KJ Oliver is back for his senior season as one of the state’s top defensive back recruits, while WR Zach Wilson is Massingale’s top target. The Higley Knights are coached by Eddy Zubey. He’s been quietly building the Knights into a state contender. Last year, they gave Saguaro a tough test in week 3, down just 14-9 at the half. RB Draycen Hall can do it all. The state’s Gatorade Player of the Year rushed for nearly 2,300 yards/29 TDs, returned 6 kicks for TD’s and had 43 catches for nearly 650 yards/6 TDs.
Jefferson vs. Lincoln (Council Bluffs, Iowa)
