This recent addition to the investment banking group of Gar Wood Securities will enhance firm’s ability to provide high quality services to both issuers and investors.
Dr. Beczkowska is joining Gar Wood Securities as Sr. VP Investment Banking. In addition to her banking qualifications, Iwona brings a unique background with strong science credentials and over 20 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech sector where she has held executive level positions in Business/Corporate Development. “Iwona is one of those rare individuals who are excellent in science, business strategy and offers a cross-industry perspective that allows truthful assessment of possible success,” said Darren Day, branch manager and Sr. VP of Gar Wood Securities.
Iwona received her degree in Neuroscience from CUNY and held the position of Post-Doctoral Associate in Molecular Pharmacology at Cornell University Medical College. In addition to her strong scientific background, Iwona possesses vast experience with both start-ups and mature life sciences and pharma companies. Her professional past includes stints at Esteve USA Inc. as Head of Business Development, Associate Director of Licensing at Forest Laboratories, Director of Business Development at Elan and AlgoRX Pharmaceuticals. She is also a volunteer advisor at Fuschia Business Institute – dedicated to help startups grow.
